Commissary Kiwanis Club Hosts 3rd Annual Bowling Tournament Fundraiser, “The Com
Fort Smith, AR–Commissary Kiwanis Club will host its 3rd annual Bowling Tournament fundraiser on Saturday, March 4, 2017 to benefit the Children’s Emergency Shelter. “The Community Strikes Back” is open to people of all ages and skill levels, and will include 3 games per team with prizes and auction. “The Community Strikes Back” will take place at Bowling World in Fort Smith on March 4, 2017. Teams are encouraged to register early, as the event sold out last year. Registration is available online at www.childrensemergencyshelter.org or by calling (479)242-5771 or (479)462-8542. Games will start at approximately 1pm. Help strike out child abuse and neglect, and support the Commissary Kiwanis Club as they help our children in crisis. 100% of the tournament proceeds directly benefit the Fort Smith Children’s Emergency Shelter and the children they serve. The tournament’s presenting sponsor is First National Bank of Fort Smith. “First National appreciates the opportunity to be the presenting sponsor of “The Community Strikes Back” tournament to benefit such a worthy cause as the Children’s Emergency Shelter,” said Anne Dunn, Senior Vice-President. “We look forward to supporting both CES and the tournament in years to come.” “This event is a favorite for the CES as we get to collaborate with the Commissary Kiwanis Club on their efforts to serve children in need, all while getting members from the community [of all ages and skill levels] together for a fun day of bowling,” stated Ashley Ahlert, Advancement Coordinator for the CES. “We have elementary age teams and teams that score near perfect games. This event really is for everyone.” The Fort Smith Children’s Emergency Shelter serves area children ages 6-17 who have been removed from their home by the Department of Human Services do to neglect and/or abuse. Their mission includes providing a shelter and care, in a safe and structured home-like environment to abused and/or neglected children, and to allow our kids the opportunity to “just be kids.” Kiwanis International’s mission is to serve children of the world. Locally, the Fort Smith Commissary Kiwanis Club serves local area schools as a Partner in Education and through reading programs. The Club also sponsors other youth-related organizations through charity events and building projects.
