VIVID: Works by Liz Whitney Quisgard
Inspired by Moorish architecture, Navajo textiles, Byzantine mosaics, and the Baroque, Quisgard creates a world of her own through embroidered tapestries which transport the viewer to an exotic and engaging place. A painter for more than 60 years, Quisgard appreciates the patience that comes with working in fiber. Quisgard refers to her detailed work as ?pseudo-pointillism,? that combines the discipline of creating painstaking patterns and heavily structured designs with bright, jewel-like colors and abstract ideas. Liz Whitney Quisgard is a nationally renowned and award-winning artist who resides in New York City. She has exhibited in numerous galleries and museums nationwide including Asheville Museum, NC, Richmond Museum, Indiana; Chicago Art Institute, Corcoran Gallery, Washington DC; Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Austin Art Museum. VIVID: Works by Liz Whitney Quisgard will be on display at the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum from November 14, 2014 ? January 18, 2015. Admission to the museum is free for everyone, and we are open Tuesday ? Saturday from 11am ? 6pm and Sunday from 1pm ? 5pm.
