Graphic Packaging in FSM Sets Record in Printing
Graphic Packaging’s Fort Smith, AR plant set a new world record for annual volume on their Heidelberg VLF 145 press. The installation of this new press last year reflects a significant investment in the Fort Smith plant.
Plant Manager Chris Krafft credits Brian Christello (Printing Manager), Barb Stetz (Production Control Manager) and Kevin Settle (Operations Manager) for keeping crews on task, addressing mechanical issues, focusing on high volume customers and building countermeasures when challenges arise. “We were very specific in our approach for the Heidelberg Press in 2020 and started laying the groundwork/game plan before the foundation was poured. This was a collaboration with a lot of great people and the end result speaks for itself. We look forward to continued success in 2021.” -Chris Krafft
The Fort Smith team received high praise from Felix Mueller, President of Heidelberg USA:
“On behalf of the entire team at Heidelberg USA, we are proud to congratulate you and the press crews. This achievement, reaching the highest total throughput count ever recorder in one year on a Heidelberg XL 145 VLF Press, is quite a significant event. It represents your commitment to teamwork, process excellence, successful training and a high level performance in a most demanding 24/7 environment with all crews contributing during a global pandemic! We appreciate the GPI/Heidelberg collaboration and partnership. We salute your accomplishment. “
