DESCRIPTION:Join the Fort Smith Police Department and Scouts from the Butterfield Trail District for a solemn and respectful Flag Retirement Ceremony\, held at the scenic Riverfront Amphitheater.\n\n\n\nThis ceremony offers a meaningful opportunity to retire unserviceable American flags with honor and dignity\, following the principles laid out in Scouting America's guidance and the U.S. Flag Code.\n\n\n\nFlag Retirement Guidelines\n\n\n\nOnly non-synthetic U.S. flags that are no longer fit for display should be brought (e.g.\, tattered\, faded\, torn).\n\nFlags must be properly folded into the triangle shape before the event.\n\nDo not bring synthetic flags (e.g.\, nylon\, polyester)\, as burning them releases harmful chemicals. These should be disposed of through local VFW or American Legion services instead.\n\n\n\nThe ceremony will include patriotic reflection\, Scout participation\, and respectful tribute.\n\n\n\nFire safety protocols will be strictly followed per the Guide to Safe Scouting\, including adult supervision and on-site safety equipment.\n\n\n\nWho's Invited\n\nThis event is open to the public Scouts\, Scouters\, veterans\, families\, and all community members are welcome to attend and participate.
