2020 VIP2 Leadership Series
Leading Remote Employees: In this training, Jon Harrison will talk about how to manage the current work climate with so many employees now working from home and discuss how you can create a culture that attracts and retains Values-driven, Informed and Passionate people. In a time when our organizations are figuring out how to lead and inspire remote employees, these concepts go beyond the "4-walls" of your workplace and into the culture embedded into those who represent your company.
Letting People Go with Compassion: Ending someone's employment is never easy (even when there is just cause), but it is especially challenging now when temporary "furloughs" or permanent reductions of good employees are happening daily. Jon Harrison will share the tactics to terminate with dignity and compassion.
Avoiding Burnout: Keeping the Passion Burning
In this training, Dr. Harry Li will talk about recognizing burnout (in yourself and others) before it gets to the danger stage, and then how to manage it. This session will cause you to honestly look at your priorities at work and in life in general and to keep your passions burning in all facets of your life.
ABOUT Jon Harrison
At the peak of a successful twenty-five year career at Caterpillar Inc. that included executive-level leadership positions throughout the U.S., and in Australia and Japan, Jon left corporate America in 2011 to follow his calling of serving people who are often overlooked and under-appreciated, both in the workplace and in society at large.
This transition to a career that focuses on “significance” vs. “success” was an easy one for Jon as the common theme during his career at Caterpillar was his passion for people. Jon is known as a leader that places special attention on the “front-line” team members and their leaders. Through his many years of experience in all corners of the world, Jon has proven that the only sustainable competitive advantage for any organization is to become relentless in developing a team of values-driven, informed and passionate people (shortened as VIP2).
Jon’s company of the same name, VIP2, assists organizations in the understanding and implementation of this powerful philosophy. By setting high behavioral and performance expectations for everyone in the organization, “real life” training of all employees on those expectations, and measuring the impact of the culture change, the “bottom line” of the organization is impacted positively, but more importantly, the lives of the people in the organization (and their families) are enhanced.
In following his calling, Jon has also served as Executive Director of “Vine & Village”, a non-profit organization focused on improving lives in an under-served area of Little Rock. He is also actively involved at Mosaic Church of Central Arkansas (a multi-ethnic, socio-economically diverse church in the heart of Little Rock).
Jon holds a BS in Business Economics from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Duke University. Jon's driving forces in his life are his faith, his family and his friends.
