Strength in Self Workshop: Coping with Chronic Conditions
Join the Strength In Self workshop and learn how to tackle issues related to chronic disease or conditions and ways to promote a healthy life-style. Skills include pain and fatigue management, action planning, healthy eating, communicating with health care providers and more. An afternoon class will begin Monday, April 6at 1pm at the Literacy Council of Western Arkansas in Fort Smith. The workshop is free and open to anyone facing issues related to chronic diseases or conditions. Strength In Self is a Chronic Disease Self-Management program created by Stanford University and is used all over the world to help people develop or hone skills that can aid them in coping with their chronic condition. Our group sessions team you up with other people facing similar issues as yourself to tackle challenges people with chronic disease face. This workshop is a six week course, meeting once a week. The group is led by certified facilitators. Participants will learn skills to address issues such as better sleep and relaxation, creating action plans and decision making techniques and working with health care professionals to treat your condition.
