Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Welding Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in welding techniques and safety practices, helping them develop the skills necessary to succeed in the welding industry. Your primary focus will be to deliver high-quality instruction, ensuring students meet course objectives while gaining hands-on experience in various welding methods. You will guide students in their academic and professional growth, fostering a supportive learning environment that prepares them for successful careers in welding and fabrication.
Duties
- Develop and Deliver Instruction: Create and teach engaging welding lessons, including theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding).
- Student Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student performance through practical exams, and projects. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students improve their skills.
- Maintain a Safe Learning Environment: Ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices in all aspects of the welding lab. Educate students on safety protocols, proper use of equipment, and hazard prevention.
- Hands-on Training: Supervise and assist students in the welding shop, offering guidance on technique, equipment use, and troubleshooting while ensuring safety at all times.
- Provide Career Guidance: Offer career advice, industry insights, and job placement assistance to students, helping them transition into the workforce.
- Monitor Student Progress: Track and document student progress, identifying areas for improvement and providing additional support as needed to ensure academic and technical success.
- Maintain Equipment and Facilities: Ensure that welding equipment and tools are properly maintained, safe to use, and in good working condition. Report any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Stay Current with Industry Trends: Keep up to date with the latest developments in welding technology, techniques, and safety standards. Integrate relevant industry advancements into the curriculum.
- Collaboration and Professional Development: Participate in department meetings, professional development activities, and industry events to continually enhance teaching skills and technical knowledge.
- Promote Student Engagement: Encourage student participation and foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports student learning and collaboration.
- Record Keeping and Administrative Tasks: Complete necessary paperwork, including attendance records, grading, and student evaluations, in accordance with institutional policies.
- Supervise and Mentor Students: Provide mentorship to students, offering guidance on personal and professional growth within the welding field.
- Assist with Certification Preparation: Support students in preparing for industry certifications (e.g., AWS, NCCER) by providing relevant instruction and practice opportunities.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on welding experience in an industrial or commercial setting (required).
- Previous teaching or training experience in a welding or technical environment (preferred).
- Experience with different welding processes, including MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux Core and Plasma Cutting. (required).
- Knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, blueprints, and welding codes/standards (preferred).
- Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of welding equipment and tools (required).
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with welding equipment and student projects (required).
- Familiarity with the latest industry technology and developments in welding (preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner (required).
- Ability to motivate and inspire students, creating a positive and supportive learning environment (required).
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and mentorship to students (required).
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and best practices, particularly as they relate to welding operations (required).
- Ability to teach and enforce safety protocols in the classroom and welding lab (required).
- Ability to adapt to technological changes in the welding industry and incorporate new tools into the curriculum (preferred).
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy materials, and work in physically demanding conditions (required).
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for performing welding tasks (required).

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
