Fort Smith to Celebrate Grand Opening of New Visitor Center with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on December 9

FORT SMITH, AR — The Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau is proud to announce the official ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new Fort Smith Visitor Center, taking place on Tuesday, December 9 at 11:00 a.m. at 524 Garrison Avenue, Suite 21 in downtown Fort Smith. The event will be followed by an Open House from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 pm. 

City leaders, community partners, local businesses, and media are invited to attend this special celebration marking an exciting new chapter in Fort Smith’s tourism growth and guest experience.

The new Visitor Center serves as a welcoming gateway for travelers, offering trip-planning resources, interactive displays, wayfinding tools, and friendly on-site ambassadors ready to help guests discover the best of Fort Smith—from its celebrated heritage and outdoor adventures to its arts scene, culinary offerings, and one-of-a-kind attractions.

“We are thrilled to open the doors to a space that truly reflects who Fort Smith is—historic, welcoming, and full of promise,” said Ashleigh Bachert, Executive Director of the Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This Visitor Center will not only support our growing tourism economy but also serve as a hub for connection, storytelling, and community pride.”

The event will feature remarks from city and tourism leaders, a ribbon cutting with the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce, and an opportunity to tour the new space.
