Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helping Skills - Be proficient in the basic career facilitating process while including productive interpersonal relationship when implementing a plan for assisting students to enter employment in targeted job categories. This includes but is not limited to academic and career advising, answering general questions, assisting other staff with shared goals, and other duties as assigned. 
  • Diverse Populations - Recognize special needs of various groups and adapt services to meet their needs. Establish and maintain continuous relationships with external and internal partners.
  • Consultation - Accept suggestions for performance improvement from campus supervisors and ADHE/CPI. Analyze and share with supervisor CSS reports from the database in order to make data-driven decisions and plan for continuous improvement of the campus initiative.
  • Career Development Models - Understand career development theories, models and techniques as they apply to lifelong development, gender, age and ethnic background.
  • Assessment - Comprehend and use (under supervision) both formal & informal career development assessments with emphasis on relating appropriate career development assessments to the population served. Keep complete students files including Kuder, IEP, ICP, exit interview, resume, cover letter, copies of certificates and awards and other documentation for seeking employment.
  • Labor Market Information and Resources - Understand labor market and occupational information and trends.  Confer with campus faculty, administrators, Business, and Industry (B&I) personnel in addition to area business and industry leaders to identify high wage/high demand occupations in the state and local area.
  • Technology - Comprehend and use career development computer applications. Tracks student information at the time of completion, career cluster, employment status, employer information and notes reflecting CSS assistance in the CSS Report module.
  • Employability Skills - Know job search strategies, and entering employment techniques, especially in work with specific groups. Apply this knowledge in working with all CPI completers.
  • Training Clients and Peers - Prepare and develop materials for training programs and presentations. Directs and coordinates the CSS program with campus faculty and program advisory committees in collaboration with B&I and ADHE/CPI staff for individual occupational programs. Develops and implements workshops for CPI students.
  • Program Management/Implementation - Understand programs and their implementation, and work with current and prospective students to collect documents and meet program requirements.
  • Promotion and Public Relations - Market and promote career development programs with staff and supervisors. Take part in or plan job fairs marketed on campus and in the community. Markets CSS at the campus especially to CPI students (bulletin boards, success walls, job boards, newsletter, classroom presentations, orientation, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills needed. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral form. 
  • Ability to present information in one and one setting as well as to groups. 
  • Basic public speaking skills needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree with equivalent combined education and work experience. 
  • Campus experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference given to individuals who have overcome barriers similar to target population of Career Pathways Initiative or have working experience with its population.  
  • Experience in Academic Advising. 
  • Demonstrated success working within state and/or federal grants.

  •  Arkansas Tech University's Ozark Campus.
