Hamilton Center for Child Advocacy: Director of Development and Marketing
Position Overview:
The Director of Development & Marketing is a leadership position responsible for developing and implementing strategies that increase visibility, community engagement, and philanthropic revenue to support the mission of the Hamilton Center for Child Advocacy. This role works closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to fulfill funding priorities, support the strategic vision, and ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning & Leadership - Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. - Develop an annual Development & Marketing Strategic Plan in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board. - Define clear goals, KPIs, and success metrics for the center. Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and trauma-informed care.
2. Fund Development & Donor Stewardship - Lead all fundraising strategy, including annual campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, and donor stewardship programs. - Manage a portfolio of annual and major gift donor prospects. Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and community partners. Oversee all donor recognition, data tracking, and reporting through donor management systems. Develop donor communication strategies and oversee execution.
3. Grant Writing & Corporate Support - Research, identify, write, and submit grant proposals aligned with organizational priorities. Develop and maintain partnerships with foundations and corporate sponsors. Oversee in-kind and financial support tracking and relationship management.
4. Event Planning & Campaign Management - Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan. Plan and lead signature events and third-party fundraisers. Oversee committee involvement and volunteer coordination for events. Ensure profitability and mission-alignment of all events.
5. Marketing, Media, & Public Relations - Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and branding plan. Manage website content, newsletters, and social media platforms. Ensure consistent brand messaging across all communication channels. Serve as a media spokesperson for development-related efforts.
6. Team Development & Supervision - Supervise volunteers, and interns. Conduct regular volunteer performance evaluations, mentoring, and professional development. Initiate interdepartmental collaboration and inspire a culture of philanthropy for all departments.
7. Budget & Resource Management – Assist Executive Director to develop, monitor, and manage the Development & Marketing budget. Ensure expenditures align with fundraising goals and grant requirements. Support financial tracking for donations, grants, and sponsorships.
8. Community Engagement & External Relations - Represent the organization at community events and partnership meetings. Collaborate with internal programs and Leadership Team to align messaging. Enhance public understanding and advocacy for the organization’s mission.
9. Professional Development, Networking, and Organizational Support – Join and attend professional organizations such as Association of Fundraising Professionals and River Valley Nonprofits to stay up to date on trends in fundraising and trauma-informed care. Join civic clubs that are beneficial for building and cultivating relationships beneficial for the Center. Support other initiatives and projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
Scorecard Measurables: - Total Revenue Raised (Annual, Event-Based, Campaigns) - Donor Retention Rate - New Donor Acquisition (Financial + In-kind) - Number of Grants Submitted & Awarded - Sponsorship Revenue vs. Accounts Receivable

Qualifications: - BA/BS in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Nonprofit Management or related field. - Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in development, marketing, or related leadership role. Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, and marketing strategy. Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Bloomerang, DonorPerfect), Microsoft Suite, and Google Workspace. Flexibility to work evenings/weekends and travel as needed. Successful completion of a criminal background and child maltreatment check.
Work Environment & Physical Demands: - Occasional lifting of heavy materials (like event setup). Ability to sit or stand for long periods. Must be able to work in an office and event environment.
