Western Arkansas Planning & Development Dist. Hiring 911 Addressing Technician
Western Arkansas Planning & Development District (WAPDD) is actively searching for a 911 Addressing Technician to join our organization.
Founded in 1966, WAPDD provides a variety of resources, services, and information to our region. Serving six counties (Crawford, Franklin, Logan, Polk, Scott, and Sebastian), we assist area leaders and residents in areas such as community, economic, and workforce development as well as transportation planning, 911 services, geographic information systems, floodplain management, and much more.
WAPDD seeks an energetic and organized individual to fill the role of the 911 Addressing Technician that will play a critical role on our 911/GIS team.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The 911 Addressing Technician will work with 911/GIS Analyst to monitor and maintain the integrity of the 911 addressing system in Crawford, Scott and Sebastian Counties. Duties include conducting extensive fieldwork and coordinating with the 911/GIS Analyst to secure and submit accurate information used to update the 911 database. Requires spatial awareness, and a technologically shrewd approach. Creation and maintenance of web maps, APPs and websites.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Work with ArcGIS Pro, SQL software, and ArcGIS Online and Portal.
- Proficient use of GPS Equipment and applications.
- Maintain 911/GPS equipment and records to document addressing/location changes and conduct research to reconcile address/location discrepancies.
- Coordinate and conduct GIS database audits to ensure accuracy of address information in the 911 database, resolving any discrepancies.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with precision and accuracy.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
- Maintain precise City Limit, Police, Fire, and EMS Boundaries.
- Work with other programs within WAPDD and Frontier MPO.
- Interact with city, county and utility departments in matters involving GPS/GIS.
- Read and digitize metes and bounds for proposed subdivisions.
- Maintain professional working relationships with various departments and agencies involved in mapping, addressing, utility, and emergency response boundaries.
- Maintain professional working relationships with clients while performing fieldwork.
- Research new and innovative ways to utilize GIS within other WAPDD programs.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in GIS technology.
- Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and adhere to schedule.
- Requires travel to and from worksites.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS – Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Proof of current auto-insurance.
- Ability to regularly walk, stand or stoop, open/close gates.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and positively with colleagues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and adhere to schedule.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are in addition to the essential functions and required skills:
· The employee is required to be present in the workplace on a regular and reliable basis.
· Normal work hours are M-F 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
· Some travel for conferences and meetings may occur.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed both in the office and throughout the Western Arkansas Planning and Development District (WAPDD) area.
This is a non-exempt, salaried position. Salary range is $33,000 to $40,000 with a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, insurance coverage, retirement benefits and professional development opportunities. Starting salary will be negotiated based on knowledge and experience.
