Arkansas Department of Education Announces School and District Grades: Haas Hall Academy - Fort Smith Recognized as Grade ''A'' Gem School
Fort Smith, AR – September 18, 2026 – The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has announced their annual School and District Report Card Letter Grades for the 2025−2026 Academic Year.
Haas Hall Academy – Fort Smith (HHA–FS) received a Grade of “A”, along with its four sister campuses in Northwest Arkansas (Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers, and Springdale).
In addition to the five individual schools being recognized at the highest level attainable, the Haas Hall Academy School District did as well (“A”), status it has maintained since opening its doors for the 2004−2005 school year, as the first public charter high school in the state.
According to national rankings released by U.S. News & World Report in August 2026, Haas Hall is rated #1 in Arkansas academically, for the fifteenth year in a row; the #4 charter school in the country; and the #20 overall high school in the United States.
HHA-FS is in its fourth year of operations, serving secondary school (Grades 7−12) scholars from throughout the River Valley. Based on the school’s track record, the ADE also proclaimed the local campus a “Gem School,” for continued leadership in academic achievement; academic growth; and sustained improvement.
The above designation is earned through data collected from the state’s school accountability formula. It is awarded to celebrate and highlight the consistent hard work of scholars, faculty, and school administration and staff across Arkansas.

Haas Hall Academy – Fort Smith is housed on the fourth floor of the multi-purpose Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) Research Institute, Health, and Wellness Center (former Beverly Enterprises/Golden Living headquarters building), located at 1000 Fianna Way in southwest Fort Smith (I-540, Exit 14).
The school offers open enrollment, meaning it welcomes secondary education (Grades 7−12) scholars, who are Arkansas residents to apply, regardless of the district they live in. Applications are currently being accepted for both Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 admissions. As a “public” charter school, there is no tuition.
