Historic Fort Smith Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Announces Exclusive Preview, Ribbon Cutting, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate as Keynote Speaker

FORT SMITH, AR — The River Valley’s premier annual tradition, the Fort Smith Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, is returning to honor the public and military officials who lead, protect, and govern local communities. As the oldest event of its kind in the State of Arkansas and one of the oldest in the country, this year’s breakfast features a prestigious keynote address from former South Carolina Governor and Nobel Peace Prize recipient David Beasley.
To celebrate the occasion, members of the media and the community are invited to a special preliminary Preview and Ribbon Cutting event.

About the Featured Speaker:
Governor David Beasley is the former Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), where he directed global efforts to combat hunger and famine. Under his leadership, the WFP provided vital food assistance to over 100 million people annually, reaching a historic 160 million people across 120 countries in 2022 alone. In recognition of its life-saving work in the world's most vulnerable and conflict-driven regions, the WFP was awarded the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. Throughout his distinguished career, Governor Beasley has been celebrated for uniting diverse political, cultural, and religious factions to confront human suffering with practical action, courage, and deep compassion.
