The “We Are Cherokee: Cherokee Freedmen and the Right to Citizenship” exhibit at the U.S. Marshals Museum details the story of Cherokee Freedmen and their descendants, including the legal fight descendants endured to win recognition as Cherokee Nation citizens. This exhibit uses images, artwork and stories contributed by Freedmen families and is on display now through January 2025 at the U.S. Marshals Museum in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
